When I was abt to get married everyone around me told ur life is gonna change forever, and I was like…ok fine!!!! But did it change…well not that impactful…I was the same with a crime partner in gang…now god thought after some years let me add some more manpower to her gang and there comes “Aaditya”……however this time no one told me my life would change, not only change but would go upside down !!!!!!!

No no don’t get scard,it’s a change every mother goes through in her life and not all changes are joyful but then u get use to them ;-)
From my experience I am listing some changes which have been significant part of my life since last year… Continue reading

1. You look towards a new way at your parents…specially ur mom!
2. Handbag gets replaced by baby bag
3. Music gets replaced by baby rhymes
4. Having a bath for half an hour is a luxury
5. Sleeping at a stretch for 8 hours is a dream now
6. Going to parlour is same as a holiday trip
7. You discover how much there is to say about one tooth
8. Silence? What’s that?
9. You give parents with a screaming child an ‘I-know-the-feeling’ look instead of a ‘Can’t-they-shut-him-up?’ one…specially in trains and flights
10. You take the time for one more hug and kiss to ur baby even if it means you’ll be late
11. House is never that neat and tidy the way it use to be before
12. You want to take better care of yourself for your child
13. You can have the most wonderful conversation using only vowel sounds like ‘ahhh’ and ‘oooo.’
14. You can kiss ur baby ‘n’ no of times in a day which obviously leaves husband complaining
15. Going for shopping alone is a mini vacation
16. U will never take free time for granted again
17. U can now eat food at super fast speed
18. U become excellent in multitasking :talking on phone/feeding baby/folding clothes can be done simultaneously with u running here and there
19. U realize diapers are such a boon in entire bunch of baby stuff
20. Parenting advice from random strangers is also a thing you’ll have to get used to
21. Photography becomes one of ur hobbies : as half of the day u keep on clicking ur baby pics
22. U start eating healthy food as u want ur baby to have the same
23. U start caring for ur body or rather put conscious effort towards it.
24. Going out anywhere will never be the same: What used to be a five-minute run to the store will now take forty-five minutes to account for putting all stuffs in baby bag, making the baby ready , snack-packing, car-seat-fiddling, and other extra steps
25. Eating out is also a whole new experience. There are tits bits on the floor to feel guilty about, stuff to keep from rolling off the table, and angry-looking fellow diners (at least in your mind) to deal with.
26. If you manage to get out alone with your partner, you’ll probably spend all of the time talking or worrying about your child.
27. U might cry even when ur baby is extremely happy and sad in both situations
28. Lastly you will experience a love and bond that you have never imagined

29. Anything more you thinks mothers which I missed out

Evil Eye/Buri Nazar on Babies

bracelet

Hello Ladies..

Here is one topic that I have been hearing so much from when my baby was born. More that the health advices, that everyone showers, people would tell me ways to protect the baby from evil eyes or buri nazar.

I’m not a believer on all this, nor am I promoting this, I still believe that god is the only protector and if we pray he will surely protect us from all this negativity. But then I’m a mommy blogger now, so just for everyone’s benefits here are some tips from my mommy and my baby’s massage lady: Continue reading

  • Make your baby wear a bracelet with black beads, if not plain black, black with gold or silver, I’m sure you have seen these in jeweler shops. (make sure the bangle does not have sharp hooks)
  • With homemade kajal, place a bindi on your babys forehead and below the feet.
  • This is what my massage lady would do, its silly ok.. but here it is

Mornings she would take water and mix turmeric and chuna/lime (the one they add to the pan), it would turn into a red liquid, she would place it in the corner of my room, it seems when people come to see the baby, they would see the liquid and it would take off their attention. Later in the evening she would take it and throw it off.

  • Take rock salt  in your palms and round your hand in front of the baby and flush the salt,
  • This one most people do, just light camphor and perform an arathi on the child; it takes away the evil effects.

Do you guys believe in this? If so what do you do?

Mee Mee Pram

pram mee

Im a big fan of mee mee products, I find all their products very reasonably priced and have very good quality.
When I used to go for my walks during pregnancy, 8 out of 10 babies would come out in a Mee Mee pram, so by default that was the first brand I was looking out for. Also, it happens to be the brand which makes the cheapest prams in India, starting from 4000 Rs.

So many of you would be confused between what are prams, strollers and buggys right?. Ok, the baby can sleep in a pram and it can be used even to carry newborns. Strollers are for reclining and sitting positions, buggy is essentially for sitting, for bigger kids.

Since I wanted to take my lil one out early I was looking out for a pram, I wanted a small and light weight pram which was sturdy. I did not want to invest a lot in it as I believe in the natural process of growth and would want my baby to use her legs when she starts walking.

So I went in for the mid range pram which costed me around 4500-5000, I can’t remember exactly. I bought it from babyoye.com. But most of the time the pram was out of stock. You need to wait and get it as it’s the most popular pram in India.

I love purple so got the purple one, sorry I did not find time to post my own images, but we have the same pram.
It’s a good pram for Indian roads and malls, just one con, since its light weight it moves very quick on slanting roads at times, so be careful. Always use the breaks.

Here are some words from babyoye.com

What is Antinaunde/Gond Ladoo/Dink Ladoo

antu

Hello ladies..

Today Ill review one of my favorite ladoos. I have been relishing all these years without knowing the benefits. Before that I’ll tell you what is dink or gond or antu as they call it here in Bangalore.

Edible gum or gond is beneficial for pregnant ladies and lactating mothers. It helps in strengthening the back and connective tissues. It is known to help with lactation and strengthening the uterus of nursing mothers. Continue reading

But this gum cannot be eaten as it is. It is available in form of ladoos. These ladoos are quite rich and is made of dry fruits, dry coconut and ghee. It’s better than eating regular ladoos as its not deep fried. Only the edible gum is fried in ghee.

A better option is to make at home you can see the recipe here

http://www.aayisrecipes.com/sweets/dry-fruits-laddu-dink-laaduantina-unde/

I have never made it at home, but I have seen this edible gum at MK retail stores in Bangalore.

The ladoos can be found in North Karnataka stores in Malleshwaram and Vijaynagar. If your on your way to Mysore or using the Mysore highway, buy them at Kamat Lokaruchi hotel. I have seen it in some sweet stores but I’m not sure if it has enough Antu. Try to make it on your own.

Hope this post helped you.. Please Like our Facebook page for regular updates. Thankyou!

Home Changes for a New Baby

baby home

Hello all you expecting mommies.. You must be so excited about your pregnancy and delivery and I’m sure you all would have started baby shopping from the fancy cribs and wardrobes.. Great..

But some people here in India don’t buy stuff for their baby’s as they consider it as a bad sign. Even if you belong to that category, no worries follow my list below:

  • Buy a nice cradle or gadda set to place on the bed. As soon as the baby arrives this is the first thing you will be looking for.
  • Buy lots of soft pillows, with a baby around you will need it to place on the sides and to help with breastfeeding.
  • Get a bucket, mug, towels, soap dish and all bath accessories.
  • An entire set of baby products should be ready at home. Like soap, lotions etc etc
  • Baby grooming kits like nail clippers, ear buds, filers, etc
  • Baby health kit like thermometer, nasal aspirator, Continue reading
  • Paint your house well in advance as you can’t do so after the baby arrives
  • Get a mosquito mat, or fit one to your cot.
  • Get a nice side table for your bed you will need to keep all handy stuff at arm’s reach
  • Get big plastic boxes to organize stuff.
  • If you have a wardrobe empty a section for the baby, or get a new one with lots of partitions
  • Keep blankets and wraps ready
  • Always have a set of warm clothes handy when the baby arrives
  • Make sure all your windows have mosquito nets
  • If you need to fit an air-conditioned do it before the baby arrives
  • Make sure you have provision for dull lighting as its not good to expose baby to bright light or its not safe to keep them in darkness..

Disposable Nursing Pads India

nuby1

Hello mommies..

Here is another important post for you. Today I’ll be reviewing my favorite nursing pad by Nuby.

To be very frank I thought its enough spending money on buying diapers for my lil one. I did not want to buy these pads for myself though I was so curious. So after negotiating with myself, finally I got myself a reusable breast pad by Farlin.

Ill review the reusable nursing pad, later. I was not fond of reusable ones as it moves a lot, and as it’s made up of cloth and it was a pain for me to wash them and dry it in a clean place. Continue reading

Annaprasana/Annaprashan

anna

Annaprasana is a Hindu ritual which marks the first solid food feeding for the baby.

It is an occasion on its own, but we decided to combine it with my baby’s naming ceremony. For girls it’s performed on the 5th, 7th or 9th months and for boys 6th, 8th or 10th month. As my baby was just 5 months we decided to club the two.

After the naming ceremony, the Pandit started with the Annaprasana ceremony. He blessing the food and handed it over to me. My baby was placed of my husband’s lap.

We had specially asked the cooks to make dal payasam, it’s a keer made of milk, dal, ghee and jaggery. With that we had few sweets that were prepared for the guests along with some plain rice. So a total of 5 items were placed on the plate. Continue reading

But sad part was that my baby was sleeping. We tried very hard to wake her and she just had half her eyes open. My husband had to dip his ring in payasam and place it in the baby’s mouth. Though she was asleep, she was enjoying the payasam, her tongue was out for more J but we stopped as she is not used to it.

Then we just placed a few grains of rice in her mouth and the ceremony was over.

If your baby can crawl place books, laptop, musical instrument, food and few creative things that you can think of. Whichever the baby reaches out to is a fun way of guessing what he or she wants to do in life.

We had to skip this part as my lil one cannot crawl.

How to Handle Baby’s First Vaccination

vaccination

Hello Ladies..

Im sure every mommy here will remember the first vaccination of their baby. In the hospital we don’t know when the vaccinations are given. But the first doctor schedule was a scary experience for me. I just didn’t want that day to come.

I searched the net for all details on how much it will pain and how to baby will react. Will they get fever etc. Ok so here is my experience.

My mom and me were sitting at the doctors clinic, my husband who is my biggest support system was out of town due to some important work. When we entered the doctors room, he checked her weight and height and asked us to remove her pants.

My kidos little legs were so tiny and delicate she hardly had flesh on them. So he told me that both the legs would be pricked because of the various combinations. The first prick itself she just clinched her wrists and cried, her eyes and whole body just shriveled up. I could not see that sight, it was so bad, tears came rolling down my cheeks. Continue reading

After the dosage we came home. Babies don’t cry immediately after getting back home, muscular injections take sometime for the pain to build up. She started crying so badly after sometime and I was so stubborn not to give her he paracetamol drops as doctor had told me to give her only if she has fever.

Later the injection sites swelled up but we gave her some hot water compression and she was relieved of some pain. Next day she was ok but did not get fever as we selected the vaccination that does not give the baby a fever.

From the next vaccination immediately after she comes home we give her the paracetamol drops so she never cries. She does not feel the pain for 4-5 hours and sleeps off. Do ask your doctor well in advance don’t let your baby suffer in pain.

Another tip, I changed my doctor and this doctor always pricks both injections on one leg, I feel it really helps instead of bruising both legs. I have seen the difference.

Babies kick a lot and this increases the pain, so if you can make them sleep in a cloth cradle.

Please note that these are my experiences babies are very delicate consult a 100 people before you take any decision.

Review of Dabur Lal Tail

IMG_1492

Before my baby was born, I had no idea about any brand which makes baby products in India other than Johnsons because they are the only people who are active on Ads.

My neighbor suggested Dabur Lal Tail when my baby was very small. That was the same time that many people awere sking me to stop using Johnson Baby oil. So I tried this oil on my baby. Continue reading

It was pungent smelling oil and had heating properties; you can feel the heat on your palms itself. Since it was summer my baby felt so uneasy and I stopped using this oil.

Here is an excerpt from their website:

Dabur Lal Tail is an Ayurvedic Baby massage oil made from time tested ayurvedic ingredients which has many proven benefits for the Baby. Its massage helps in strengthening baby’s bones and muscles and is proven safe and effective for better overall physical growth of babies.

Doctors from the Pediatrics department of Jawaharlal Nehru College conducted a clinical research under stringent rules and measures where the effect of massaging a baby with Dabur Lal Tail was compared with the effect of other massage oils, talcum powder and no massage. In the research, it was clearly proven that babies who were massaged daily with Dabur Lal Tail in comparison with no massage experienced 2 times faster increase in weight and height.

Clinical Research further proved the positive effects of Dabur Lal Tail massage in inducing better sleeping pattern in Neonates and Infants, which is very important for a baby’s development

Dabur Lal Tail developed by Dabur India Limited contains all natural ingredients like Till Tail, Ratanjyot, Shankha Pushpi, Camphor and Urad. As per the literature, Till Tail or Sesame Oil improves growth and post-massage sleep, Ratanjyot protects against skin infection, Shankha Pushpi cures general weakness, Camphor improves blood circulation and Urad nourishes muscles & bones

Recently I used the oil again as my almond oil got over and the heating property really worked for the climate in Bangalore now. Her dry skin was gone. And the smell really made her sleep for a long time after bath, the camphor really helped in the cold.

I still love my sweet almond oil but I use this oil too, Now I use it once in 2-3 days.

Do let me know your experience with this oil.

Hope this post helped you.. Please Like our Facebook page for regular updates. Thankyou!

Important Tips on Bottle Feeding

By Megha,

bittlefeeding

Hello mommies. In my last article I told you few advantages of breast feeding. But you know bottle feeding the replacement to breast feeding after a while. Usually after 6 months of complete breast feed, babies are introduced on to the bottle feeding. Not only this, when parents are too busy to deal with the crying baby, they try to quieten him or her by giving the bottle of milk. Tell me frankly how many of you have done this J

Here are few instructions for you regarding the bottle feed:

  • Provide more attention to the child
  • Remove the bottle immediately after feeding
  • Substitute the milk or non-sweetened juices to plain water Continue reading
  • Encourage your baby to stay in upright position with a bottle
  • Use a bottle with a nipple that has a small hole to enable the infant to work with his muscles activity to get the milk from the bottle. You remember I told you this activity is important for the proper growth of jaws and the muscles of mouth.
  • Introduce a cup to drink as soon as possible
  • Bottle feeding should be allowed at intervals.
  • Give water after feeding with bottle and clean the mouth soon after feeding.

Hope my tips will work for the health of your kids. Keep loving your babies J
