It’s a thrilling time when you get to bring home your baby for the first time. It’s also undeniably stressful. There’s so much to keep track of! Even with all the lists, planning, and support in the world, you’re sure to miss something important. Luckily, we have you covered! This is a list of the items you may have forgotten to put on a baby registry, but are nonetheless vital to your baby’s health, and your own peace of mind. Give it a glance, and make sure you’ve got everything you need when baby gets home

First Aid Kit

Becoming a new parent can be nerve-wracking. Avoid the more nerve-wracking experiences of parenting by preparing for the worst with a baby first aid kit. That should include cotton balls, baby thermometer, medicine dropper, and a bulb syringe. Remember not to clean your baby’s nose or ears with cotton swabs. Other great additions to your infant first aid kit include hair and toothbrushes, nail clippers, and a pair of blunt scissors.

Nursing Pillows

If you’ve never nursed before, you might be a little nervous. A nursing pillow is a pillow designed to help your baby angle her head to avoid air bubbles, while still allowing for the most comfortable sucking. A good nursing chair for you is also a great addition to your nursery. Choose something well padded and comfy, that makes rocking or leaning back easy and comfortable for both of you. You’ll be spending a lot of time feeding, after all!

Breastfeeding Storage Containers

If you’re going to breastfeed, you’re going to want to do plenty of pumping. It stops your breasts becoming engorged during feeding, and pumping allows both parents to get the benefits of bonding during feeding time, while giving baby all the benefits of breastfeeding (and giving mom and much-needed break, sometimes too!) Along with a breast pump, you should consider how you’re going to store anything you’ve pumped. Consider buying a minifridge if you’ll be pumping a lot. Otherwise, a cooler with ice packs can keep breast milk fresh for up to one day. Buy some bags and bottles safe for breast milk, so you’ll have them at the ready.

Portable Changing Pad

If you bought a high-end diaper bag, chances are your changing pad was included with your diaper bag. However, if you went with secondhand, or choose a cheaper brand to save money, remember to pick up a portable changing pad. These are life-savers for errand running and even just saving you time around the house. It turns every available surface into a changing table, and makes it safe and sanitary for your baby, no matter how messy things get. Trust us, with a new baby, life can always get messier!

Sunglasses and Hats

What kind of hat you want to protect your baby’s head depends on the time of year and where you live – but don’t forget about the sun! Babies under six months should never have sunscreen. The chemicals in even the mildest sunscreen can cause rashes. That makes sun protection more important now than at any point of their lives! Baby sunglasses and hats are super cute and very stylish. This is definitely somewhere you want to put function over form. Make sure you have plenty of hats and shades, as well as sun shields for stroller and car seat. altogether.

Meeno Liner

Did we mention the sun gets hot for the baby? Baby’s body temperatures don’t regulate as we do. This is why it’s so essential to keep a baby’s head covered wherever they go since babies lose a lot of heat from their head. For hot days, it also means it’s difficult to keep cool. Especially with all the protective covering, you need for that baby soft skin! The Meeno liner helps your baby stay cool whether they’re in the stroller or car seat. The 3-ply poly-mesh material promotes airflow, and keeps baby from getting too sweaty, or overheating.

Air Purifier For Baby’s Room

This is definitely high on the list of good health plans for your baby. It’s possible that you’ve remembered to add a humidifier to a baby’s room to stop it getting too stuffy. But did you know that a HEPA air filter can trap more than 98% of airborne germs, toxins, pet dander, and dust? That means a cleaner, healthier air for your baby. You won’t be the only one breathing easier with an air purifier for pet hair and alike in your baby’s room. And as a bonus, the noise is quiet enough that it can actually function as a white-noise machine to help your baby sleep!

Baby Pack and Play

It’s possible this one is already on your list, but I cannot stress enough the importance of a portable crib. Even if you think you won’t be traveling very often with your baby, a crib you can set up on the go makes visiting easier even if it’s just for a few hours. It means you can keep your baby on his sleep schedule, no matter what’s going on in your life. Get a nice and sturdy Pack N Play, and it’ll last well into the toddler years!

Planning for your baby is exciting and fun, but it can also be overwhelming. Of the tens of thousands of baby products on the market, which are essential, and which can you wait to get? What should you put on your baby registry? And what on earth are you forgetting? This is far from a comprehensive list of what you need to keep you and baby happy. But if you’re looking for a reminder on those items you keep forgetting to put on your “to buy” list, look no further. From first aid kit to nursing equipment and beyond, you’re sure to get everything your baby needs.
