My Top 3 Campaigns for Indian Moms and Children

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

As a founder of a mom and baby blog I think it’s also my responsibility to drive some social awareness about problems that we face in our daily lives. I know with the Political system here, we can only speak and very less can be done. But we can raise a voice right, thanks to the blogging world.

What would you like to campaign against? Here is my list:

Breastfeed in Public – I have done a post on how difficult it is for a breastfeeding mother to feed in Public. Malls are overcrowded, we have to remove tinted glass from cars (this one I’m not complaining), and worse case we are offered a chair in some places again by some kind hearted people). I think the government should put up some tents or set aside a small place in all Public places, definitely not next to rest rooms like some malls. I know Mothercare and Mom and Me stores have good nursing rooms, but how many women in India can afford to go there?

Girl child funds– I think the government should provide the lower income sector with some social security money if they have a girl child. In that way they won’t throw their kids in the bin. After seeing so much on television I pray that a girl child should only be born only to those who can value her. Its sad that they are abandoned by their parents, passed from hand to hand, thrown from corner to corner, even orphanages are corrupted. At least those sick parents would keep them for the money that the government pays them.

Educate the boys – We see so much on rape and cruelty to women. I think every school should have separate moral education sessions for boys and teach them how to respect women. Show them videos of what happens to a girl when acid is thrown on her face.

When I was in school, we had a session on child labor and how they were used in making crackers for Diwali. Till date, I am not fond of crackers even if it says on the box that child labor is not involved. So when kids are given good values at a young age it definitely stays. Do you agree?
