Hi Moms,

Have you ever thought of how much money you spend at the beauty salon? A survey says that an average urban woman spends 700-5000 per month in a beauty salon. No wonder salons and spas are popping up everywhere. I know at times it can be relaxing and gives you some “me” time. But if you dont find enough time to visit the salon or you are thinking of saving some money why dont you start pampering yourself at home. Not only that, you get the freedom to choose all products and aromas that you like. Here is a list of treatments you can do at home:

Waxing:

Invest in a good epilator, epilators are less painful than waxing and does not cause bumps. It is better than a razon or chemical hair removers anyday. An epilator costs INR 1500-3000 and will save you a lot of money. Its not messy at all like many people think, always keep it close to your washroom, so that you use it once in 2 weeks.

Facials:

You get so many facial kits these days. Buy a steamer, a good serum, a nice massage cream, a pack and a scrub. These products can be reused throughout the year and you can change the products based on season too, like different ones for summer and winter. Cleanse your face and massage with a good cream, steam your face and remove any blackheads. Now use a good scrub and scrub your face. Finally use the pack. After the whole process, dab some serum on your face. You can do all this while watching television. And you can buy products that suit your skin.

Pedicure:

But a good fook soak or bath salts are good too, mix it with shampoo and soak your feet. Now use a good foot scrub cream and rub your feet and wash off. If you do this on regular basis you dont need those complicated brushes.

Hair Spa

Massage your hair with some good oil once a week, you can add aroma oils if you like. Use a hair pack and wash your hair. Keep a separate shampoo and conditioner that is used in salons (I use the one by loreal which costs INR 500 which lasts for 6 months). You can buy a Loreal or Wella product from your salon. Use this once in 2 weeks.

Body Spa

Keep a body spa kit, with  bath salts, body scrubs, body oils and a body wash.

Once in a week you can massage your body with a nice oil, let it soak for sometime. Use a good scrub, I use the Bodyshop strawberry scrub and scrub off the oil. Finally add bath salts to your water and have a bath. Bath salts have magnesium which totally relaxes you. Light some scented candles if you like.

Now I visit the parlor only for eyebrows and have saved a lot.
