Review of Dabur Lal Tail

Print Friendly

Before my baby was born, I had no idea about any brand which makes baby products in India other than Johnsons because they are the only people who are active on Ads.

My neighbor suggested Dabur Lal Tail when my baby was very small. That was the same time that many people awere sking me to stop using Johnson Baby oil. So I tried this oil on my baby.

It was pungent smelling oil and had heating properties; you can feel the heat on your palms itself. Since it was summer my baby felt so uneasy and I stopped using this oil.

Here is an excerpt from their website:

Dabur Lal Tail is an Ayurvedic Baby massage oil made from time tested ayurvedic ingredients which has many proven benefits for the Baby. Its massage helps in strengthening baby’s bones and muscles and is proven safe and effective for better overall physical growth of babies.

Doctors from the Pediatrics department of Jawaharlal Nehru College conducted a clinical research under stringent rules and measures where the effect of massaging a baby with Dabur Lal Tail was compared with the effect of other massage oils, talcum powder and no massage. In the research, it was clearly proven that babies who were massaged daily with Dabur Lal Tail in comparison with no massage experienced 2 times faster increase in weight and height.

Clinical Research further proved the positive effects of Dabur Lal Tail massage in inducing better sleeping pattern in Neonates and Infants, which is very important for a baby’s development

Dabur Lal Tail developed by Dabur India Limited contains all natural ingredients like Till Tail, Ratanjyot, Shankha Pushpi, Camphor and Urad. As per the literature, Till Tail or Sesame Oil improves growth and post-massage sleep, Ratanjyot protects against skin infection, Shankha Pushpi cures general weakness, Camphor improves blood circulation and Urad nourishes muscles & bones

Recently I used the oil again as my almond oil got over and the heating property really worked for the climate in Bangalore now. Her dry skin was gone. And the smell really made her sleep for a long time after bath, the camphor really helped in the cold.

I still love my sweet almond oil but I use this oil too, Now I use it once in 2-3 days.

Do let me know your experience with this oil.

Hope this post helped you.. Please Like our Facebook page for regular updates. Thankyou!

Hi my baby is 9 months old I want to improve her complexion and she s not sitting and standing yet..which soap or oil I can use for her complexion

  4. Tanishq says:

For improving the complexion of babies right from when they are born, you can apply milk or yogurt and let it stay for sometime. But don’t let them go into the sun right away after washing as it will tan them more. Apply sunscreen on kids over 6 months (again, use a good quality sunscreen); avoiding the sun as much as possible is the best. Get the kids used to caps / hats, it will protect their skin.

Dabur Lal tail is a very good product and I haven’t experienced any negative effects on my kids. I have 3 kids and I have used them on all 3. My last one now is a toddler. Warm oil has better benefits, the oil can be warmed up and then massaged gently all over the body. Avoid applying the oil to the face. The oil helps when the kids are from newborn/infant – upto 6 yrs with full benefits. This strengthens the muscles, bones and joints and helps babies/kids to grow stronger. I have read the negative reviews above and cannot accept it much as the skin color does not depend on this oil, but ofcourse you should not apply it on the face. Baby’s skin is tender and any wrong product can affect it.
Massage in general is good for anyone, and babies would also benefit and especially will get better sleep.
All kids don’t like the feeling of oil on them but in a couple of times they will adjust. Even in summer, you can massage with the oil when the house is in a comfortable temperature or atleast a fan running.

I hope this review will help and good luck with your kids.

I am a proud father of 2&1/2 months old baby boy. From his birth itself we started using olive oil for his massage. He used to love it showing pleasant body language. Few day back we started to massage him using Dabur’s Lal Tail, The 1st day he cried throughout the massaging period, we thought it was bcoz of his hunger or some stomach ailments. Yet the unpleasant experience continued over the next three days also. Finally today on the 5th day we massaged him using the olive oil, Surprisingly the old enjoyable mood of my baby was back. Its beyond my understanding what made him feel so awkward about Dabur’s Lal Tail that made his massage so unpleasant. Dabur’s Lal Tail was our own massaging oil when we were growing. Our parents never experienced sum thing like this with us using the Lal Tail. Can anyone help to understand why wld be reason? N.B: Here we have rainy season now….temperature is soothing. Also the baby showed no other health issues during the Dabur’s Lal Tail massage days.

    • admin says:

Swetha I suggest you dont apply oil ever on her face. As oil definitely darkens the face. Use Cetaphil moisturizer and Tedibar soap, it helps as its not greasy and will not further tan.

  22. Revathi says:

Hi, I started using Dabur Lal tail for my 1 month old baby. He is very fair. I see his skin
Colour changing. I feel he is Turning dark. Is this due to the oil.

    • admin says:

Hi Revathi, All kids change color. Kids are very fair and slowly they lose the color as the top skin starts growing. Nothing to do with the oil. Try Almond oil if your worried.

  32. Sukanya says:

My baby nor standing on her own she to have very sensitive skin where she get rashes often pls just whether dabur oil is good for heat climate

    • admin says:

Hi is her standing because of rashes?? Dabur oil is NOT ENOUGH TO PROTECT RASHES. Please contact a dermatologist.
Use Cetaphil cream and Tedibar soap. They are the best you can find in India. For oil I felt almond oil is the best for all weathers. Dont worry about kids not standing or completing milestones, every child takes its own time.

  38. Asma says:

I tried massaging my baby of 25 days…..due to heat she started vomiting….please suggest me something…i would like to malish my baby in dabur lal tail itself…

    • admin says:

Im not very sure if it was because of the oil. Did you massage immediately after food? I have never heard of this incident before, or maybe your kid is sensitive to the smell. Best option is to try other oils, The best oil is Almond oil, Himalaya massage oil is also very good.
