Pregnancy is often one of the most exciting times in a woman’s life, however staying fit and active during this period can be a challenge for many. This being said, numerous studies have shown that keeping physically active during pregnancy is largely beneficial for both mum and baby. With this in mind, if you don’t have some gym accessories to do sport, a good option is to check for second hands fitness accessories on local free classifieds sites which are quite economic respect to new accessories. Surely, you will need to save money!

One of the best ways to stay fit and active during pregnancy is to attend your local gym.  Naturally, the amount of exercise that you feel comfortable doing depends greatly on your fitness levels and current trimester. Furthermore, it is always advisable to consult your doctor before attempting anything particularly demanding. This being said, regular exercise, either at home or at the gym, can drastically improve common problems during pregnancy such as constipation and insomnia whilst minimising the risks of depression and diabetes.

Another great way to stay active during pregnancy is to sign up for prenatal classes. This provides for the perfect opportunity to socialise with other expecting mums and engage in workouts that have already been safely modified for pregnant woman. Signing up for a water aerobics class is a great option for woman in their final trimester.

Experts believe that as little as thirty minutes of walking just three times per week can have incredibly positive effects on the physical and mental wellbeing of both the mumtobe and the growing baby. This means that you don’t need to necessarily engage in a fastpace cardio workout in order to stay active during pregnancy and can safely opt for more relaxing options such as treadmill walking.

During pregnancy it is vital that the expectant mum gets enough sleep and rest. This means taking a week off from your exercise routine every now and then in order to allow your body to recover. This, alongside a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, will no doubt lead to a happy pregnancy for both mum and baby.
