Hi Moms,

Im going through a phase where Im trying to convince my toddler to eat food, leave alone veggies and fruits. Toddlers are in a phase where they want to decide what they want to do and eat, in short they want to control everything. So given a choice they will pick the same food everytime and never try new food. Some kids even fear food, but again it will pass. But as moms we cant let their growth years pass right? So here are some tricks I discovered, do let me know your experiences.

Vegetable Stock

Always keep hhome-made vegetable stalk handy in the fridge, you need to boil all veggies, add onion and garlic if you like, and store this liquid in your fridge. Use there cubes while cooking their favourite food, you can add it to rice, noodles etc.

Chips

Most kids love chips so try frying chips (not store bought) with different veggies, you can coat it with a thin layer of gram flour mixed with water before frying. Use ghee or coconut oil for frying.

Sauce and Dips

This is another place where you can hide your veggies and fruits. Make them dip their favourite food. You can make your own tomato sauce with veggies and fruits. Will post the recipe shortly.

Vegetable and Fruit platter

You can start with taking them to the store and buying veggies and fruits in front of them, they are sure to get excited. Now cut them into different shapes, some boiled, some raw and place it in front of them, some kids might taste out of curiosity.

Fruit Yoghurt and Shakes

Make your own fruit yoghurt and thick shakes and place it in the fridge, once it sets you can trick them that its an ice-cream.

Fruit Jello

This is a great way to make your kids eat fruit without even realising, you can see the recipe here:

Coat fruits with chocolate.
