In my previous article , Dikemali – Ayurvedic Teething Remedy , I have shared one of the thing i used to soothe my baby in the cold days here. The other thing that I used was, a teether , A Silver Teether  , a traditional  teething soother recommended by my mother in law.

It was very thoughtful  of her , to have it made by jeweler , according to instructions & design given by her. It was of almost same design as my husband’s & brother In law’s teether. So we had this , Customized Silver Teether , made for our little Prince , ready to use , by the time he was born.

I was eager to see it , as being a marathi by birth , i was unaware of such teether. But to my sheer surprise ,  teether was simple yet elegant & strong & solid in nature made of pure silver .

What I liked About Silver Teether

  • I could sterilize ,  it easily as compared to other teether.
  • I found it very safe , my son was taking something in his mouth , which did not  contain harmful chemicals , toxic colors  or any kind of adulteration.
  • By chewing the , teether if anything goes in his tummy is pure silver which wont harm him in any way.
  • Feel of relaxation given by trust  of goodness, as it is used for past many many years ,for babies.

It is not that Silver Teether was the only thing used , but it was my son’s favorite soothing toy . I am calling it toy as , he used to carry it almost while day in his hands , & chew. he chewed it so so much that condition to take a photo of. So the picture shared above is from internet,  my son’s teether is of same Design  & Shape & Size.

Please, see to it that the teether,  has all the round  edges  & smooth surface as baby may have a cut on gums by sharp edges.
