5 Reasons Why Employers Should Hire Moms

Source

There are so many changes after I turned mommy, Im sure all this mommy experience will help me in my job. So here are some top reasons why someone should employ mommys returning after a break.

  • Moms are used to multitasking, they have been successful in squeezing a 30 hour day into 20 hours.
  • Moms don’t sleep, they are used to working day and night. So you can expect 24/7 support.
  • They value their jobs, they have chosen a job over spending time with their baby so they definitely are serious.
  • They are organized and they will get work done quickly as they need to rush.

  • Patience is one thing only a mom will  have after handling a baby. They have the ability to listen instead of jumping to conclusions.
  • Moms are loyal. They will surely stick around.

adu

ADH_8079

Having looked at these pictures I am sure you would have guessed by now what you’re about to read further. Your Right! I am talking about my online artwork shop.

I am sure all moms will agree how excited we are in planning for our kids 1st birthday party. Well I was no different; in fact I started planning (6 months prior) for my son Adhrit’s 1st Birthday. My main intention was to make his day extremely special and memorable! Being a crafty person as always, I decided on making handmade decorations. My son enjoys watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse…. OH TOODLES! Party theme was taken care of!

From confettis, pom poms, cake table centerpiece to all the wall decorations were all handmade by me. Designing his name with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters was the highlight. Continue reading

His big day was a grand success and everyone was fascinated with my work! Yayy! That’s a sweet success for a 1st timer ;-) People in fact couldn’t believe that each item was handmade. The items looked very professional.

Having put in all this effort I came up with the idea of making opening a shop in Etsy with all my creations that I make in my free time. I make party & home decorative items. My shop – AdhuCreations is named after my son Adhrit (after all I started this venture because of him :-))

I can design any theme that you prefer… I go by “U name it & U Have it”.

Any item that you pick from AdhuCreations is solely handmade by me with the utmost care and detailing that it needs. I love customization and all items in my shop are subjected to that.

Improvisation has always been my aim. The journey so far has been brilliant,!! The feel where my ideas are taking shape and adorning a kid’s nursery or a party is simply mind-blowing. I would love to come up with more ideas and themes.

Please feel free to visit my page and comment on Facebook. Thanks in advance for visiting my shop.

Thankyou so much Shalini, you surely are going to inspire so many new moms. WTG.

Navaratri Golu

By Reks

IMG-20131009-WA0000

Navaratri golu is celebrated by south Indians during the nine days navarathri festival. Golu is the toy or doll arrangement made on steps of odd numbers. The marapachi dolls, husband and wife set is made of a special reddish wood. It is a custom for parents to gift a set to their daughter at the wedding. And the girl then keeps this pair first to inaugurate the golus at her new home.

The Gods and goddesses dolls are displayed around a theme. One can see the colorful mix of radha-Krishna, ram-Sita, saraswati, Lakshmi, Ganesh, hanuman, etc.. There is the very known dasavatar or 10 avatars of Vishnu also on display. In most homes it is a tradition to buy one new doll every year to add to their collection.
Ladies and girls are invited to visit one s place to see the kolu and  participate in chanting hymns and shlokas. Before leaving all of them are given kumkum, Prasad and a goody bag.

After the 10th day or vijayadashmi, all thank God for making it a successful one this year and wishing to continue it in the years to come. the dolls are then removed ,packed neatly and put away for the next year.

By Reks
IMG-20131010-WA0000

My five year old loves his Mealtime if there is some meat in the menu. one of his most favorite is the simple grilled chicken.
Here is how u make it.
Clean, cut,  and marinate the chicken with barbecue sauce, lemon juice, salt, pepper, chillyflakes(or coarsely powdered red chilly, chopped garlic and Italian seasoning or just oregano.
You can omit the bbq sauce if u want.

Cook on a preheated grill till slightly charred. You can also Cook it in a non stick pan till it turns Brown.
For smaller kids like one year old plus, reduce the spice level, chop the chicken into small boneless chunks.
Lip smacking!!

Sebmed Baby Lotion Review

sebmed1sebmed2

I have always been using Cetaphil lotion for my kido, but the one I use is from the US and because of the price difference in India (around 500 in US and 2000 in India :-(  ) I switched to Sebmed cream which I had reviewed earlier. When I was purchasing the cream I did see the Sebmed lotion on the counter, but I did not pick it up as I thought it will be too runny.

We really liked the cream except for the fact that its too thick and does not spread too well. The cream is very greasy too. So I picked up the lotion this time.

It costs around Rs 500. A little expensive compared to the lotions in the market, but the quantity is quiet good and a little product is enough for moisturizing the whole body. So after 7 months of trial and errors I can now say that its one of the best lotions I have purchased. I can see my baby’s skin is getting softer, her skin was too dry lately. Continue reading

Thankyou Cloudnine/ Forum Mall Bangalore

lounge new lounge 2

Hello mommies,

You must be fed up with the number of times that I crib about breastfeeding in public. But now I found a place to hangout so I’m happy. If you live in Bangalore the forum mall Koramangala is the best place to visit with your baby.

We just happened to pass by the place and I was looking for a feeding room. I saw “mom and me” written on a wall in Landmark, I happily headed that way, but then they did not have a nursing room. I sadly walked towards the ladies rest room where they usually have a sofa for feeding. But the lady there asked me to head towards a Health Lounge. Continue reading

When I reached there I read Cloudnine and I was all exited as my daughter was born in Cloudnine, and I totally believe that any initiative taken by them has to be good. They have a beautiful health lounge with a separate room for breastfeeding. The room has a clean bed and a table for mommies who feed solid food, or just to keep their things. My daughter was so happy that she could rest and stretch her legs.

They also check your blood pressure and offer the place for relaxation, all this for free.

So here’s a big Thankyou from my daughter and me!!!

Happy Navaratri – Kanya Pooja for Mommies with Little Girls

Navaratri

Wishing you all a Happy Navaratri!!

Navrathri is not a big festival at home but it always reminds me of my childhood where I used to visit my friends homes with Golu./Kolu. For folks who don’t know people here in the south arrange interesting dolls and idols on steps. Daily one Prasad would be prepared and tambulya is given to girls and women.

Here is a brief of Navrathri from wiki:

Navratri is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga.During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti/Devi are worshiped. The tenth day is commonly referred to as Vijayadashami or “Dussehra.” Navratri is a very important and major festival in the western states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka during which the traditional dance of Gujarat called “Garba” is widely performed.

My cousin performs kanya pooja every year, it’s a pooja performed in the presence of little girls so I though all you mommies would like to know a bit on this Pooja. My lil girl is too small else I would have enjoyed performing this pooja at my home. Continue reading

During Kanya Pujan, 9 girls (unmarried) representing 9 forms of Goddess Shakti, are invited. Their feet is washed and they are offered food. The menu usually includes food that kids love like Puri, Chana, Halwa etc. When they are leaving they are offered gifts or new clothes. I have been to these Poojas when I was little and I totally enjoyed it. The same way we used to enjoy at a birthday party.

Goddess Durga is said to bestows her blessings in the form of wealth, knowledge and prosperity to the one, who performs Kanya Pujan.

Here is the step by step process that my cousin follows:

  • Perform pooja to goddess Durga in the morning, you can keep all the gifts that you buy for the 9 girls in the Pooja.
  • Cook some kid friendly food, its good to include channa in the food.
  • Invite 9 girls home, once they enter touch their feet and put tikka on their forehead.
  • Make them sit down in a row and serve them food.
  • Give them gifts/clothes again touch their feet and say your byes.

I want to capture these images but my cousin is not performing this pooja this year.

Moms do you perform this Pooja at home?

My Top 3 Campaigns for Indian Moms and Children

As a founder of a mom and baby blog I think it’s also my responsibility to drive some social awareness about problems that we face in our daily lives. I know with the Political system here, we can only speak and very less can be done. But we can raise a voice right, thanks to the blogging world.

What would you like to campaign against? Here is my list:

Breastfeed in Public – I have done a post on how difficult it is for a breastfeeding mother to feed in Public. Malls are overcrowded, we have to remove tinted glass from cars (this one I’m not complaining), and worse case we are offered a chair in some places again by some kind hearted people). I think the government should put up some tents or set aside a small place in all Public places, definitely not next to rest rooms like some malls. I know Mothercare and Mom and Me stores have good nursing rooms, but how many women in India can afford to go there?

Girl child funds– I think the government should provide the lower income sector with some social security money if they have a girl child. In that way they won’t throw their kids in the bin. After seeing so much on television I pray that a girl child should only be born only to those who can value her. Its sad that they are abandoned by their parents, passed from hand to hand, thrown from corner to corner, even orphanages are corrupted. At least those sick parents would keep them for the money that the government pays them. Continue reading

Educate the boys – We see so much on rape and cruelty to women. I think every school should have separate moral education sessions for boys and teach them how to respect women. Show them videos of what happens to a girl when acid is thrown on her face.

When I was in school, we had a session on child labor and how they were used in making crackers for Diwali. Till date, I am not fond of crackers even if it says on the box that child labor is not involved. So when kids are given good values at a young age it definitely stays. Do you agree?

Baby Food 7 months: Heinz Dinners Cheesy Vegetable Pasta Review

heinz1

Once my baby started feeding on solids, I mostly chose natural homemade stuff to ready to eat cereals. But I do give her Cerelac once a day. This is off course for convenience.

Sadly we cant alter the taste of these cereals too much and baby’s tend to get fed up of cereals very soon. So I thought ill try Heinz products this time (after hearing a lot from my NRI friends). I ordered it on Firstcry.

It came is a small box not like the big box of Cerelac we get here. Costed us Rs 350 for 100 grams. You just have to add water keep it for a minute and feed. My daughter loved it the very moment she tasted it and asked for more. Im sure a lot has gone into testing this product.

Here is a brief from their site:

Cheesy vegetable pasta is a delicious combination of cheese and tomatoes blended with durum wheat pasta enriched with a 1/3rd of baby’s key vitamins and minerals. Continue reading

  • 1/3 of baby’s key vitamins and minerals
  • No added Sugar (contains naturally occurring sugars)
  • No artificial colours or preservatives
  • Contains calcium and vitamin D to help build strong bones and teeth
  • Suitable for Vegetarians

I would definitely recommend it to moms who are desperately trying to feed a child who does not eat. Im sure they will love the taste with teeny weeny bits of cheese. It helps in weight gain too.

heinz2

But cost wise its expensive and I would not give it to my baby daily. I like carrying it with me when Im going out, as I always carry water in the flask. I cant comment more than this on the taste, the person eating this does not know how to speak. Lol

Do try it out and let me know. Bye for now.

Chhota Bheem ….Puzzling is fun

Chota Bheem

My hubby had recently picked up a Chhota Bheem jigsaw puzzle cum game for my son from the airport after his official trip. So last weekend both father and son were reading the instructions and trying hard on fixing the pieces in the right way. I got tempted and joined them.

We got totally engrossed in it and forgot about our breakfast. Finally after a good one hour fifteen minute of trial and errors, and discussions of what goes where, we completed the puzzle. After this we had to use the flash cards to find out the items hidden in the puzzle. The three of us had a great time playing this, it was really quality time for us. Continue reading

We also found this a great stress buster. I am now looking forward to fixing the 101 pieces, muscle power car puzzle, along with my son in the coming weekend.
Great weekend play !! Great stress reliever!! Feeling accomplished !!
