Hi Moms,
As Im typing this recipe, Im feeling really bad that my daughter is not letting me click images of her favorite fries She loves french fries and I did not want to put her on store bought fries all the time, as I heard a that they are fried and unhealthy oils and lard. Even frozen fries have preservatives and sodium. So I thought its best to make them at home. We can use good oils for frying.
The best oil for frying french fries are coconut oil or groundnut oil, both have loads of benefits for kids.
So here is a Break Down:
Step 1– Cut large potato into thin sticks and put them in a pot of salt water. You can add in lots of salt as the salt removes excess water inside the potato.
Step 2– After 1/2 hour place the same pan on the stove and cook the fries for 5 mins, until potatoes are half cooked. make sure they are not fully cooked.
Step 3– Now strain the water and wipe the potatoes with a towel and place them in an airtight box in your freezer.
Step 4 – Heat oil in a pan and when the oil is hot, put the frozen fries into the oil and lower the flame, let it cook for atleast 10 mins till they are totally crispy and float on the surface of oil.
Quick Method:
I have tried another quick method which works too, but not as crispy as Method 1
After peeling the skin of potatoes, places them in a pot with water and lots of salt for half an hour. Now remove the potato, pat dry, cut them into sticks and fry (Step4).
