Hi Moms,

How are all of you coping with the summer heat? Make sure your little ones are well hydrated. A common problem most babies and kids face is heat rash or prickly heat.

What is Heat Rash:

When kids sweat in excess their pores get clogged and tiny red bumps are formed. These bumps get extremely itchy, so make sure you cut their nails short so that they dont infect themselves. Another tip is not to use heavy creams till they get cured, a mild water or gel based lotion is ok. These rashes are mostly seen on folds and places where kids overdress.

Home Remedies:

– Keep their body cool, remove excess clothing, give them a warm bath and use only cotton clothing.

– Add half a tsp of baking soda to their bath.

– Powder helps absorb excess sweat, but use only a cornstarch based powder as other powders cause breathing problems.

– Apply Papaya juice/Cucumber juice before bath and wash off.
