Baby Food 8 months plus: Rava Upma/ Semolina Upma/Sooji Upma

upma

Babies who are teething love to try new textures so after the mashed food sessions, its good to start with semolina. Its soft, easy to digest and has good texture. My LO does not have a sweet tooth like me, so I make this often as compared to sooji halwa. You can avoid salt but I add a small pinch.

Ingredients

  • Sooji/Rava – 2 TBsp
  • Mustard
  • Whole red chilli
  • Turmeric
  • Hing/finely grated ginger
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Ghee/clarified butter

Procedure:

In a pan add Ghee, to this add few mustard seeds, a whole red chilli, turmeric and hing/ginger.

Immediately remove the chilli and add rava and fry. On another pan heat water with salt.

Once rava is fried, add boiling water and close the lid and cook for 1-2 mins. You can adjust the thickness by adding more water.
