Dust mites are microscopic organisms which live on house dust and the protein and faeces from their body, when inhaled causes allergy. They reside on dust in old carpets and mattresses. These dust mites feed on dead skin from our body, hence expect to find it in places which contacts the skin such as towels, blankets etc. Since we regularly wash our blankets and curtains these reside in old stuff that is kept aside.
