By Maya,
As women we know how our mood swings like its no ones business. I have faced my share too, right from the time when my child was born. Later I had some uneventful mood swings after I stopped nursing. We have our monthly cycles to add to the mood changes. The people who are close to you will know when not to mess with you. But I think its our responsibility to take control of our body and mind and not let these hormonal changes and mood swings affect others, especially the people we love.
1- Identify whats wrong
Its not good being rude or hurting people with words, though they deserve it at times. Ask yourself if you would deal with this problem the same way when you dont have these mood swings. Or the best way is to wait and deal with any issue later, before it gets out of your hand.
2- Meditate/Work Out/do yoga
Working out or doing yoga releases “happy” hormones into our system which will make you feel good. Even if your unwell, go for a walk alone to release all your stress.
3- Go on a diet
Yea I know dieting is depressing, but diet and lifestyle changes will keep you occupied and help you avoid stress. As you know obesity and eating disorders are related to depression, following a diet will save you from that. From my experience a low carb, high protein diet works wonders on my mood.
4- Go out alone
I know there are so many of us who cant have a cup of coffee alone. The world is very big and you have lots of good people out there. Just go out eat alone in a restaurant, go to an event, or a coffee shop and meet new people. Going out with the same people will only make you crib more and make life worse.
5- Reduce coffee, eat food with coconut oil, have loads of chamomile tea. Increase your omega 3 by having cod liver oil supplements and vitamin D plays a great role in maintaining your moods.
6- Sleep
Last but never the least, get adequate sleep. Force yourself to sleep. Read a book or follow this simple trick below:
Lie on your back, bend your toes towards the bed and take a deep breathe, do this few times and you will be dozing off.
Finally be positive and be assured that time is the biggest healer. God bless.
